Fue el segundo diseño de Nicholson para un Clase J y el segundo gran yate de Stephenson.
«Velsheda» debe su nombre a las tres hijas de Stephenson, Velma, Sheilay Daphne. Compitió con los grandes nombres de la vela clásica, como el Britannia, el Endeavour y el Shamrock V, entre 1933 y 1936.
Quedó inmovilizada en 1937 y fue relanzada tras una reconstrucción completa en 1997-97.
En 2010 es propiedad del empresario holandés Ronald de Waal, de la cadena europea de moda al por menor WE (antes HIJ/HEY/ZIJ).
Ganador absoluto de la Regata Clásica de Yates de Antigua 2009.

The model of the Velsheda is absolutely magnificent, great model making art, I am absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, the model delivered does not exactly match the picture on the website (the rear flag is missing, for example), hence 4.5 stars out of 5.
Unfortunately my model (I live in Europe) arrived with damage during transport. Abordage can’t do anything about that, so no criticism. However, the repair process took months and involved enormous effort. In the end, there was small residual damage left, which somewhat clouded my experience with the model. And then the communication stopped.
Therefore only 1 star out of 5, overall 3. Abordage, there is room for improvement.
