Fu il secondo progetto di Nicholson per un J Class e il secondo grande yacht di Stephenson.
“Velsheda” prende il nome dalle tre figlie di Stephenson, Velma, Sheilae Daphne. Ha gareggiato con i più grandi nomi dello yachting classico, tra cui Britannia, Endeavour e Shamrock V tra il 1933 e il 1936.
La nave fu messa a riposo nel 1937 e fu rilanciata dopo una completa ricostruzione nel 1997-97.
Nel 2010 è di proprietà dell’uomo d’affari olandese Ronald de Waal, della catena europea di moda al dettaglio WE (ex HIJ/HEY/ZIJ).
Vincitore assoluto dell’Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta 2009.

The model of the Velsheda is absolutely magnificent, great model making art, I am absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, the model delivered does not exactly match the picture on the website (the rear flag is missing, for example), hence 4.5 stars out of 5.
Unfortunately my model (I live in Europe) arrived with damage during transport. Abordage can’t do anything about that, so no criticism. However, the repair process took months and involved enormous effort. In the end, there was small residual damage left, which somewhat clouded my experience with the model. And then the communication stopped.
Therefore only 1 star out of 5, overall 3. Abordage, there is room for improvement.
